For most of us, Tuesday borders on being the most negligible day of the week but on this particular Tuesday over 120,000 music fans, industry professionals, college radio tastemakers, bloggers, press, and musicians are gathering in NYC for the CMJ Music Marathon.
Over 1,300 artists will be performing in nearly 80 venues across the city and our good friends Quiet Company, Hundred Waters, and Conveyor will be among the amazing bands featured at this year’s event. We want to wish all three of these bands, along with the rest of the musicians and music lovers in NYC, a great time at this amazing week of music discovery.
If you are an Artist and you are interested in working with Grooveshark, email us at Artists@grooveshark.com. Check back with the Grooveshark Blog every week to be updated on the latest news, interviews, and Grooveshark exclusives.
A couple weeks ago, some of our sharks ventured up to New York for CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival. CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival is an annual music/film festival put on by CMJ (College Music Journal) Network. It was introduced in 1980 in only a few venues around NYC as a way for industry professionals to discover new breaking artists in the college radio world. It has now expanded to dozens of venues all over NYC and Brooklyn.
The first band from our Artist Development initiative, Quiet Company, was there for the festival. We were able to capture some awesome images from their performances at the Steve Madden showcase at the Gibson Guitar Showroom in NYC and the Paste + Rdio ‘Afternoon Delight’ Showcase at the Living Room. We also got a behind the scenes look at their video shoot for their single “You, Me & The Boatman” in Long Island with BBGUN Film and Buddhatron, directed by Josh Sobel and cinematographer Alex Bergman.
We will also have an orange Grooveshark tent with people giving out Grooveshark swag and free water. There will be three water stations around the festival where sharks will be handing out water for free! We are the only people at DeLuna Fest that will be giving out free water so be on the lookout. It’s important to stay hydrated!
We will be meeting with different bands and musicians throughout the weekend, so look out for great pictures and contests on Facebook and Twitter! For now, we would like for you to enjoy some pictures of our Sharks working at DeLuna Fest so far! Enjoy…
Here is some of the awesome Grooveshark swag that we will be giving away!
How about those sweet sweatbands? Gotta stay dry!
If you are at the festival we would love for you to come by, hang out and say hi! We hope you all have had an awesome Friday and have a great weekend. We will be updating after DeLuna Fest to give you a recap of all the weekend fun!
Big news, sharks! All of us at Grooveshark have been awaiting this day for quite some time now. Our friends, Quiet Company, released their new album “We Are All Where We Belong” today! “We Are All Where We Belong” is a 15-track album that includes honest lyrics about life, love, and philosophy, paired with catchy melodies that are sure to capture and keep your interest. We can’t get enough of this awesome new album, and if you want to check it out yourself, you can purchase a digital copy of the album here, or stream it now on Grooveshark here.
One of our favorite parts about Quiet Company is that they’re as amazing live as they are on their album. But don’t take our word for it… check out their live performance from this past weekend in Austin, TX here.
Quiet Company is hosting the awesome and hilarious contest in honor of their album release. The contest requires you to upload your best/most creative picture of you sporting a beard like the boys of Quiet Company (see above). The beard can be real, drawn on, glued on, photoshopped, sewn, whatever! If you are picked you could win the grand prize which includes two roundtrip flights, hotel, and tickets to the Orlando Calling Music Festival for you and a guest of your choice. This includes a Meet and Greet with Quiet Company, the new album, and Grooveshark Anywhere. For all the details on how you can enter and win, click here!
This Thursday we are excited about our new friends at StickerMule, a company that sells custom stickers and skins. Grooveshark starting using StickerMule when we wanted some custom stickers made for one of our favorite bands, Quiet Company.
How awesome is that sticker for Quiet Company? We found StickerMule to be special because they fix artwork problems for free and offer free shipping to anywhere in the US. They offer top-notch service and product; we can’t wait to find another excuse to use them as soon as possible.
StickerMule wanted to show love for Grooveshark by giving everyone a 10% discount on your next order when you use the code “grooveshark”. Thanks so much, StickerMule. We hope all you sharks enjoy their custom stickers as much as we do!

Grooveshark Artist, Quiet Company, have been taking the music scene by storm lately with the success of their latest single, You, Me, & the Boatman, off of their upcoming album, We Are All Where We Belong.
The single made its way up to #3 on The Hype Machine Twitter chart- and has been given praise by many music blogs as of late.
Check out what others in the industry had to say about Quiet Company:
“As always, Quiet Company demonstrates a perfect balance between rock and pop on “You, Me, & the Boatman”—the third track off their upcoming album. With their bombastic big band-esque arrangements, and playfully accessible sound, it’s hard not to love this track.” - The Music Ninja
“After paying their dues for 11 years, waiting for this sound to regain popularity, I believe Quiet Company is poised to take the spotlight back from the men and women armed with MIDI controllers. After enduring the sounds of over-hyped 80s babies armed with MacBooks and Ableton for 10 years, I’m happy to hear real instrumentation and rock-soul still has a place in indie.” - Earmilk
“Everything about it just screams big. Epic chorus, horns, the vocals. It’s a fun listen, and one that shouldn’t be ignored. This is my first taste of Quiet Company, but I doubt it will be my last.” - We All Want Someone To Shout For
“The group have had some solid success so far in last years’ album release of “Songs for Staying In”, which charted at radio and landed in a few tv/film placements, including songs with acting roles in the ABC show My Generation.” - Indie Music Filter
If you haven’t had the chance to listen to their awesome new single, check it out below. If you like what you hear, you can preorder their upcoming album here, and we’ll even throw in 3 free months of Grooveshark Anywhere!
